Oasis Process
As the creative force behind Oasis, a Tulum-inspired restaurant, I spearheaded all social media content—designing visually stunning posts to showcase their ever-evolving menus, craft cocktails, and seasonal offerings. Every piece I created blended the restaurant’s bohemian elegance with bold, organic textures, ensuring each post not only highlighted the vibrant flavors but also transported followers to Oasis’s lush, laid-back paradise. From curated flat lays of their signature dishes to dynamic reels of mixologists crafting cocktails, my work captured the essence of the brand while driving engagement and attracting a devoted audience.
Beyond menus, I developed cohesive campaigns for special events, promotions, and collaborations, maintaining a consistent aesthetic that elevated Oasis’s digital presence. My designs combined earthy tones, hand-drawn details, and striking typography to create an immersive, aspirational feed—turning casual scrollers into loyal guests. The result? A thriving online community that mirrored the energy of the restaurant itself, where every post felt like an invitation to unwind under the Tulum sun."
Research and Inspiration
To craft an authentic visual identity for Oasis, I immersed myself in the aesthetics of Tulum-style restaurants, analyzing their menu designs, color palettes, and graphic elements. I studied the region’s natural textures—woven textiles, rustic wood, and tropical foliage—as well as the balance of minimalism and vibrancy that defines Tulum’s design language. Historical research into Mayan influences and the area’s bohemian art scene further shaped the creative direction, ensuring the restaurant’s branding felt both culturally rooted and contemporary.
Additionally, I examined high-end restaurant menus and social media posts globally, identifying trends in luxury dining visuals—clean layouts, artful food photography, and subtle yet sophisticated typography. By merging Tulum’s organic, earthy aesthetic with elevated culinary presentation, I developed a cohesive style that positioned Oasis as a premium yet inviting destination. This research ensured every design, from cocktail posts to seasonal menus, felt intentional, aspirational, and unmistakably Tulum.
Sketching and Conceptualization
The design process for Oasis began with extensive sketching and experimentation, blending Tulum’s natural aesthetic with modern restaurant branding. I created multiple mood boards and rough drafts, exploring layouts that balanced organic textures—like hand-painted strokes and weathered paper effects—with sleek, contemporary typography. Each concept was presented to the owners for feedback, refining details such as color warmth, illustration styles, and the hierarchy of menu items. This phase involved constant iteration, testing how visuals resonated both digitally and in print, ensuring the designs felt cohesive across all touchpoints.
While trial and error played a role, every adjustment was rooted in research—drawing from Tulum’s artisanal heritage and high-end culinary trends to inform decisions. Whether adjusting the opacity of a palm frond motif or simplifying the menu’s structure for readability, each change was intentional. The final direction emerged from this collaborative, research-backed process: a visual identity that felt effortlessly earthy yet polished, mirroring Oasis’s blend of rustic charm and refined dining.
Digital Execution
For Oasis, I leveraged Adobe InDesign and Illustrator to craft polished, cohesive designs across all brand materials—from menus and social media posts to banners and promotional assets. InDesign allowed me to structure layouts with precision, ensuring typography and visual elements maintained balance and readability, whether for a multi-page menu or an event flyer. Illustrator was essential for creating custom vector graphics, such as intricate Tulum-inspired patterns and logo refinements, ensuring scalability without losing quality. Every design element was meticulously aligned with the restaurant’s boho-chic aesthetic, blending organic textures with clean, modern lines.
To enhance photography and imagery, I used Photoshop to retouch and stylize photos, adjusting lighting and tones to match Oasis’s warm, sun-drenched vibe. Whether editing food shots to look more vibrant or compositing visuals for Instagram stories, Photoshop helped bring the brand’s imagery to life. This seamless integration of design tools ensured that every piece—whether digital or print—felt elevated and intentional, reinforcing Oasis’s identity as a Tulum-style haven of taste and style.
Review and Refinement
The design evolution for Oasis was a collaborative journey, where each concept underwent rigorous review with the owners. I began by sending test designs—whether menu layouts, social media templates, or branding elements—and carefully documented their feedback on colors, imagery, and overall tone. This iterative process ensured the visuals perfectly captured their vision, from adjusting the warmth of earthy tones to refining the hierarchy of menu items. Some designs went through multiple revisions, with each version inching closer to a look that felt authentically "Oasis": relaxed yet sophisticated, organic yet polished.
After implementing feedback, I sent refined mockups for final approval, often presenting side-by-side comparisons to highlight improvements. This transparent back-and-forth allowed the owners to see their input come to life while maintaining design integrity. The result was a cohesive visual identity that balanced Tulum’s rustic charm with the restaurant’s elevated dining experience—a testament to how thoughtful refinement can turn good design into something extraordinary.
